Musculoskeletal (MST)/Myotherapy

MST involves evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and associated conditions. It aims to improve the way the body moves and may involve a rage of techniques such as soft tissue, joint and neural mobilisations. 

A comprehensive initial assessment is conducted in order to fully understand the muscular, joint and nerve functions in the body which will then direct the treatment procedure. For this reason all initial consultations are 60 minutes.

The focus of treatment and rehabilitation is the prevention of muscular and skeletal pain or dysfunction. Treatments and exercise prescription assist to promote functional movement and reduction of pain and restriction due to a range of physical injuries and disabilities. The ultimate aim of MST is to only treat the symptoms but also uncover and treat the underlying causes to achieve long lasting results.

Treatment will include:

• a full assessment of the affected area

• a detailed diagnosis of the dysfunction

• an individualised treatment plan

• appropriate therapy and rehab

Prescribed therapies may include joint mobilisation, myofascial release, myofascial cupping, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, neuromuscular technique, dry needling and electro dry needling therapy, neurodynamics, mobilisation with movement.
